There’ll be times in your life when you’re faced with the hard realization that you’ll have to end some relationships. Ever heard the statement “Loyalty has an expiration date”? It means that as difficult as it may be to accept, there are some friends, even family members that you’ll have to cut off, simply because they’re just not on the same path as you are when it comes to your goals in life.
There might also be some people in your life in whom who you’ve confided your deepest hopes, but instead of encouraging you to go after your dreams they stir up your doubts and dampen your courage with negative statements or questions like “why would you want to do that?”
Those people definitely can’t go with you. What’s more, you’ll have to be strong enough to insist on only having positive people in your life. I once had a childhood friend who was always so negative that I couldn’t share anything with him without him responding with some reason why the things I wanted to do just couldn’t be done. So, I stopped sharing anything I wanted to accomplish with him and put an end to the negative chatter.
My advice to you: guard your heart, protect your peace and surround yourself only with those who will build you up and challenge you to become a better version of yourself.
